About Hushfern
Hushfern makes calm, proven baby essentials. We start with something that frustrated us at home, test it with real families, and only sell it if it genuinely makes a hard part of parenting easier.
Why we exist
Our first attempt at cutting our daughter's hair happened on the bathroom floor with clippers borrowed from her grandfather. The noise terrified her before the blade touched her hair. We spent forty minutes on something that should have taken two, and we both ended up in tears.
When we went looking for something better, the market split in two: cheap clippers that were loud, plasticky and impossible to clean, or salon-grade tools designed for adults and priced for professionals. Nothing was built for the actual problem — a small person frightened of noise, and a parent who has never done this before.
So we built it.
How we choose what to make
Every Hushfern product has to pass four tests before it goes on sale:
- It solves something that actually annoyed us. Not a feature we thought sounded clever.
- It's measurably better, not just differently marketed. If we can't put a number on the improvement, we don't make the claim.
- Real families have used it. We send units to parents before launch and take their criticism seriously, including the unflattering parts.
- We'd use it on our own kids. That's the final gate, and it has stopped more than one product.
One thing at a time
Most new brands launch with twenty products and hope something sticks. We'd rather sell you one thing that works properly than ten you'll regret. QuietClip is our first product and it will stay our focus until we've earned the right to add a second.
Where we are
Hushfern is Australian owned and designed on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Support is answered from Australia by people who know the product — not routed to a call centre, and not outsourced.
How we price
We sell direct, which means we don't pay retail margins or wholesaler markups. That's how a clipper with this specification lands at $79 rather than $150. We don't run permanent "sales" with a fake original price, and we don't inflate a list price purely to discount it. When the price is $79, $99 was the genuine pre-launch price.
What we won't do
- We won't claim a certification we don't hold.
- We won't publish a review we can't verify as a real purchase.
- We won't hide the critical reviews. You'll find the four-star and three-star ones in the feed, because a wall of identical five-star reviews helps nobody.
- We won't make you fight a form to get a refund.
